Maybe some of you have been wondering where the heck I've been for not posting for almost a week. Well, I've been in Singapore for few days with my family. The thing is, I didn't schedule my posts like I usually do. That's why you know that I was gone. Well, I'm back now! You'll see a lot more of catch up posts after this post ;)
The Digital Dozen Does Countries & Cultures - Day 4: Pendet Dancer (Bali)
"Pendet is a traditional dance from Bali, Indonesia, in which offerings are made to purify the temple or theater as a prelude to ceremonies or other dances. Pendet is typically performed by young girls, carrying bowls of flower petals, handfuls of which are cast into the air at various times in the dance. Pendet can be thought of as a dance of greeting, to welcome the audience and invite spirits to enjoy a performance."
The Digital Dozen Does Countries & Cultures - Day 3: Wayang
"Wayang (Krama Javanese: Ringgit) is a Javanese word for particular kinds of theatre. When the term is used to refer to kinds of puppet theatre, sometimes the puppet itself is referred to as wayang. Performances of shadow puppet theatre are accompanied by a gamelan orchestra in Java, and by gender wayang in Bali.
UNESCO designated wayang kulit, a shadow puppet theatre and the best known of the Indonesian wayang, as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity on 7 November 2003. In return for the acknowledgment, UNESCO required Indonesians to preserve their heritage"
It's the DD week again and the theme for this week is "Countries & Cultures". Because I'm such a good citizen of Indonesia *cough.. cough..* I think it's the right time for me to introduce you to my beautiful country and cultures. So this week, I'll do Indonesia-themed-nail-designs for my all DD posts.
